History
The Case, Pistol (Large Frames) is a khaki tan-colored holster made with woven cotton webbing and designed to hold a 455 Cal Smith and Wesson revolver with a larger frame that cannot be carried in the standard holster issued with the Pattern 37 Web Equipment and was first produced in 1942. It is a close copy of the standard issue holster and can be worn on a web belt or attached to the 37-Pattern Compass Pouch.
Description
The holster is made of woven cotton webbing and features a curved lid that closes with a brass snap-dome. It also has three brass double hooks at the back face that attach the holster to the Web Belt and Pattern 37 Compass Pouch. The internal side of the holster includes an open-top sleeve pocket for the pistol’s cleaning rod.
