The Carrier, Vacuum Flask and Flask, Vacuum, Stainless Steel are a two-piece unit issued to British soldiers operating in cold, dry Arctic environments such as Norway. The Flask enables a soldier to carry a liter of hot coffee or tea that’s ready-made or just hot water for rations. The Flask was carried in the Carrier sling over the shoulder or strapped to a field pack, providing the soldier with a hot brew when there was no time available to boil water or it was tactically infeasible to do so.

Description

The Flask is fabricated with a double wall of stainless steel (one inside the other). The base of the Flask is flat, and the top holds a small cup that’s lined with black plastic. Removing the cup reveals a black plastic cap that screws down to close the Flask. The cap has two settings: halfway to pour and completely to fill the Flask.

The Carrier is fabricated with olive green butyl rubber and lined with a white insulating foam. The Carrier has an adjustable nylon webbing strap running around it (top to bottom). The adjustable webbing strap that the Carrier is carried with anchored to the sides of the lid with nylon loops, this holds the two parts together and allows the lid to slide up and down it whenever the Carrier is opened. The lid closes by securing it to the bottom section of the Carrier with two snap-domes.
