History
before their deployments in Afghanistan or Iraq, some New Zealand soldiers chose to privately acquire the shingle as an alternative to the standard-issue ammunition pouches. This personal purchase provided them with the advantage of faster reloads, surpassing the efficiency of the pouches officially provided by the New Zealand military at that time.
Description
The shingle features open top pouches capable of holding four 30-round 5.56mm magazines. These magazines are securely held within the pouches using elastic bungee cords.
Constructed with a textured nylon cloth, the shingle has a Desert DPM pattern on its external side. Its internal side is waterproof, thanks to a polyurethane lamination.
The Panel is equipped with four open-top ammunition pouches. Each pouch can accommodate a single 5.56mm magazine. The magazines are held in place by an elastic loop with a free-running webbing tab. This design allows for easy removal of the magazine by simply sliding the loop to one side. Furthermore, the loops can be adjusted to accommodate longer magazines by modifying the knots on the loop.
On the front of the Panel, there is an eight by two 25mm PALS lattice sewn onto the exterior. This lattice pattern is repeated on the back face as well. Additionally, six 25mm webbing PALS tabs are included to facilitate attachment of the Panel to a vest.
