History
This ammunition pouch was privately purchased and used by NZ soldiers from the mid-1990s to the early 2000s. While designed for holding ammunition, it was frequently repurposed as a utility pouch.
Description
The pouch is fabricated from a nylon and cotton blended canvas, similar to oilskin canvas. The lid closes with a 25mm side-release buckle. The sides of the pouch have a vertical nylon strap that secures a Toggle rope to the pouch with a 19mm side-release buckle, allowing the toggle rope to be suspended underneath the pouch.
The internal side of the pouch is lined with transparent plastic stiffeners at the front and back.
The right side of the pouch at the top has a 34mm webbing strap that allows a compass/field dressing pouch to be secured to the pouch. The base of the pouch has a metal grommet that allows water to freely drain from the pouch.
The back face features a 34mm nylon webbing belt loop on each side, allowing the pouch to be fitted to a web belt.
