History
The Tropical DPM (unlined) Trousers were initially introduced to the New Zealand Army in 1982, proving to be much lighter and cooler than the previously issued Trousers, Combat, DPM.
Prior to this, soldiers operating in jungle environments or during New Zealand’s hot summer months were issued the Trousers, Combat DPM (Lined), which compelled soldiers to remove the sateen lining of these trousers unofficially to make them more comfortable in the heat.
Description
The Trousers are made of cotton and nylon blended fabric with a temperature camouflage pattern printed on it. They feature a front closure with a single button, a covered zip-up fly, and a button-down gas cover on the internal side.
The waist can be adjusted at the sides with button-down cloth tabs, and there are five button-down belt loops for wearing a Stable Belt or Web Belt, depending on the order of dress at the time.
The Trousers also have two hip pockets with slash entry, an open-top back pocket, and two large bellowed cargo pockets that close with button-down lids.
Examples
Example One
