History
The Trousers, Man’s, Utility, Nylon/Cotton, Durable Press, Woodland are a direct copy of the Trousers, Man’s, Nylon/Cotton, Durable Press but with the addition of basic thigh pockets. The Trousers, Man’s, Utility, Nylon/Cotton, Durable Press, Woodland appear to be an issue item that was produced for an unknown reason at this time. However, one possibility is to test the effectiveness of the Woodland camouflage pattern in the field. This would allow soldiers to wear a new style of camouflage without the need for expensive uniform fabrication.
Description
The Trousers are made of polyester and cotton blended cloth with a M-1981 Woodland camouflage pattern printed on the external side. The front of the waist closes with a single button and has a concealed zip-up front fly. Additionally, the external side of the waistband has seven 1 ½ inch cloth belt loops.
There are four pockets on the Trousers: two patch style, front hip pockets with slash entry and two patch style back pockets with button-down lids. The thighs on both sides have a small patch style cargo pocket with an external central expansion pleat, which closes with a simple button-down lid. The cuff of each leg has a nylon tape-tie, enabling the Trousers to be worn bloused over the boots.
