History
The Shirt, Field, Camouflage, HBT (Herringbone Twill) was a standard field garment worn by Portuguese soldiers from the 1960s through the 1980s.
Description
The shirt is fabricated with cotton Herringbone Twill cloth with a printed M-1964 ‘Lizard’ pattern on the outside. The shirt features a fold-down collar and a button-down front with an external placket. Two patch-style pockets on the chest have external pleats, though these are purely decorative and do not allow the pockets to expand. The sleeves are plain, and the cuffs secure around the wrists with buttons.
The back has an inverted expansion pleat that enables the shoulder section to expand with shoulder movement. The start of the expansion is centered in the bottom edge of the shirt’s yoke and runs down to the waist.
The tails are shaped to prevent them from riding up when tucked into the trousers.
