History
This baseball-style cap was locally produced in the Sinai Peninsula by Egyptian tailors for members of the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO). Although its exact method of sale is unknown, items of this type were likely obtained through local vendors or privately purchased during deployment.
Description
The front of the cap is reinforced to help it retain its shape. It is fabricated from a polyester-cotton blended ripstop cloth printed with a U.S.style Urban camouflage pattern. The crown is formed from six wedge-shaped panels sewn together and features four small ventilation eyelets. A metal button is fitted to the top of the crown.
The peak is sewn to the front of the crown and measures 19 cm wide by 7.5 cm long. It is stiffened with a cardboard or plastic insert covered in matching Urban camouflage fabric and secured with four rows of crescent-shaped stitching.
The cap is adjusted at the rear by a hook-and-loop fastening strap. Above the adjustment strap is an oval-shaped relief opening that allows the cap to be tightened without bunching the fabric. Embroidered in blue thread above this opening are the words “Sinai Egypt”. Sewn to the front of the cap is a standard Multi-national Force and Observers (MFO) deployment patch.
