History
Little is known about this cap at present other than that it originates from Thailand and was in use during the late 1990s.
Description
The cap is fabricated from a polyester-and-nylon blended cloth featuring a dark woodland-style camouflage pattern printed on the exterior. A 2.5 cm-wide cloth band is sewn around the base of the crown. The cap has a flat top, and the sides are extended and reinforced with a 0.5 cm-thick layer of closed-cell foam rubber. This internal foam lining provides structure—approximately 7 cm high at the front and 8 cm high at the rear—and is covered internally with matching camouflage fabric.
The brim is slightly shaped at the center, though curiously offset from the true midpoint of the crown. It is sewn down along the front edge and internally stiffened with closed-cell foam. Five semi-circular rows of stitching radiate outward across the brim, each progressively larger than the one before, securing the foam core in place and preventing internal movement.
The inner lining is stitched directly to the foam layer, resulting in a rigid, self-supporting cap that retains its shape even without wear.
