History
The Holster, Pistol, 9-mm was issued to the South African Police (SAP) officers in the early 1980s and was part of a 70-Pattern Web Equipment that was produced in SAP blue. It was designed to carry either a Browning High Power pistol or a Star Model B pistol, along with a spare magazine on a web belt. The holster was later replaced by a leather holster in the mid-1990s.
Description
Made with a light blue, woven cotton webbing with chemically blackened brass snap-domes, the Holster features an open-top design with a 25mm webbing strap that secures the pistol down at the front with a snap-dome. There is also a small open-top pouch sewn to the front of the holster for holding a single 9mm magazine, which is secured in the same fashion as the pistol. The holster’s internal side has a thin open-top pocket that holds the pistol’s cleaning rod. The holster’s back face has a 2-inch wide webbing loop that enables the holster to be fitted to a web belt.
