History
The Carrier, Canteen, 1L With Hexamine (Hexi) Pouch (Canteen Cover) was crafted to accommodate a 1 quart canteen and offered space for either a Hexi cooker or a compact survival kit within its external pouch. Manufactured by Web Force of Australia in the early 1990s, it formed an integral part of their Pattern-90 System.
This Canteen Cover quickly gained popularity as an alternative to the standard M-1988 ICLCE canteen cover of its time due to its ability to carry both the canteen and cup, along with a cooker. Subsequently, Australia replicated this style of Canteen Cover and incorporated it into the M-1988 ICLCE system.
Description
Fabricated from cotton webbing duck fabric featuring a DPCU pattern on its external surface, the Canteen Cover boasted a lining of black woolen felt. The cover securely housed the canteen with fabric ‘ears’ on each side, fastened over the canteen’s shoulders by metal snap-domes
The front pouch, stitched to the cover, featured a lid secured by a combination of metal snap-domes and hook and loop fastening tape. Spacious enough to accommodate a Hexi-cooker and several beverages, a compact survival kit, or medical supplies, this pouch offered versatile storage options. The cover’s back featured two webbing belt loops, internally equipped with strips of hook and loop fastening tape, enabling secure attachment to a Web Force-produced web belt.
