History
The Canteen/ General Purpose Pouch (MOLLE II) is a medium-sized pouch designed to hold a U.S 1-qrt canteen, canteen cup and stand, or a field stripped Meal Ready To Eat (MRE) or five 5.56mm, 30rd M-4 magazines. It can also holds a pair of AN/PVS-14 goggles with the aid of a foam insert and has external pouches for field dressings, a compass or small MRE components.
The Pouch is a part of the Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment (MOLLE) II family and is worn on each side of the Fighting Load Carrier (FLC) Vest. It is made of nylon duck cloth with a Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP) printed on the external side and a triple layer of Polyurethane on the internal side, making it waterproof when new.
Description
The main compartment of the Pouch closes with a nylon cloth cover and a Y-shaped, adjustable webbing strap and Surmount buckle. The lid of the main compartment has an elastic shock-cord in it that enables the mouth to be drawn in with barrel-locks at the sides. The sides of the Pouch have a small external pouch that closes with a hook and loop secured lid. The internal side of the Pouch is lined below the lip with nylon webbing.
The back face of the Pouch has a 2 rungs of Pouch Attachment Ladder System (PALS) loops with two PALS straps. The Pouch is available in several camouflage patterns, including Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP), Coyote, Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP), Woodland, and Three-color desert.
