History
The Field Pack, EOD Technician, is essentially a simplified version of the British 44-Pattern Haversack made of nylon. It was issued by the Singaporean army to Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technicians and designed to hold everything they would need in assigned compartments. Unfortunately, in this particular example, these sections were removed before we received it. Not much is known about this object, but it’s a very interesting and obscure item.
Description
The pack is fabricated with nylon cloth with a polyurethane (PU) lamination in the internal side. The main compartment was originally divided into sections, but these have long since been removed. The sides of the mouth have short foul-weather covers, and the lid is very plain, securing shut with thread through alloy buckles and webbing straps at the bottom of the pack.
The pack has an opening into a lower compartment, and this has a lid that closes with the same setup, going from the bottom up to close in the middle of the pack’s front. The side pouches are a simple box shape and close with a nylon webbing pull tab and wire chapel and staple arrangement. Sewn to the front of each side pouch, at the top, is a short open-top pouch that shares the side pocket’s lid to close it.
The back of the pack is lined with a thin layer of closed-cell foam padding and has basic shoulder straps with no padding, adjusted with metal thread-through buckles. The ends of the shoulder straps are clipped to D-rings at the base of the pack with Alice hook clips.
Sewn to each side of the pack at the bottom is a very simple waistband that adjusts with an alloy tri-glide buckle and a webbing strap.
